چکیده

Currently, the protocol for bone conduction surgery involves soft tissue reduction in order to stabilise the skin around the abutment and reduce the risk of skin-related complications in the area. The new CochlearTM Baha® BA400 Abutment features a hydroxyapatite surface and a pronounced concavity to enhance soft tissue stability by establishing tight adherence between the soft tissue and abutment. These improvements facilitate a simpler and shorter surgical procedure with improved patient outcomes. This paper suggests that the CochlearTM Baha® BA400 Abutment with no soft tissue reduction may become a standard for the bone conduction treatment.

Single-Stage BAHA and Mastoid Obliteration

A single-stage fitting of a bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) implant and abutment with mastoid obliteration both obviates the need for two separate procedures and utilises the BAHA soft tissue reduction in the mastoid obliteration. Such a procedure has good outcomes in terms of osseointegration and achieving a dry ear. We present a 6-patient case series report highlighting the technique of comb...

Surgical and Audiologic Comparison Between Sophono and Bone-Anchored Hearing Aids Implantation

OBJECTIVES Bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHA) occasionally cause soft tissue problems due to abutment. Because Sophono does not have abutment penetrating skin, it is thought that Sophono has no soft tissue problem relating to abutment. On the other hand, transcutaneous device's output is reported to be 10 to 15 dB lower than percutaneous device. Therefore, in this study, Sophono and BAHA were co...
